Today is when President Trump said his tariffs on various imported products from multiple countries will be announced. The market has probably overestimated the impact of these tariffs.  

 

Yesterday, the USDA reported total crush for February after the CBOT closed. The corn crush was 465 million bushels, down 6% from a year ago; corn crushed for ethanol was 421 million bushels, down 5%. The soybean crush was 189 million bushels, 2% less than a year ago. The canola crush was 170,856 tons, down 17%. Cottonseed oil once refined 31.8 million pounds, 25% decrease from a year ago.


The USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) reported on March 31 U.S. stocks:

  • Corn stocks in all positions on March 1, 2025 totaled 8.15 billion bushels, down 2% from March 1, 2024. Of the total stocks, 4.50 billion bushels were stored on farms, down 11% from a year earlier. Off-farm stocks, at 3.65 billion bushels, up 12%. The December 2024 - February 2025 indicated disappearance is 3.92 billion bushels, up 2.6% from the same period last year.
