Presidents Putin and Trump had an hour long telephone conversation yesterday. It was strictly confidential, but was described as positive.
Canada:
The U.S. banned a broad swath of Canadian alcoholic beverages, motorcycles and dairy products from import on Tuesday, sharply escalating an already acrimonious trade spat.
The import bans, which go into effect on September 29 and were published on the White House's website, came after Canada's own retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods took effect after midnight on Tuesday. Those Canadian levies themselves followed 50% tariffs that the United States imposed on some $20 billion of Canadian goods last month, after several rounds of negotiations collapsed.
President Trump said he is directing the General Services Administration to work with the U.S. Trade Representative to take steps to remove Canadian-origin products from the agency's Multiple Award Schedules unless Canada restores "full and fair reciprocity" for American farmers and companies.
U.S. Crop Estimates:
The next USDA WASDE report will be released on Friday, September 11th.
Dr. Cordonnier lowered his estimate for U.S. corn yield by 1 bu/ac to 177 bu/ac.
He kept his estimate steady for U.S. soybean yield at 51.5 bu/ac.
