Field feedback from Dave, who farms just northwest of Chicago:
“Took a trip to Tulsa over the weekend. In my opinion, Iowa looks great. Corn and beans along with northern half Missouri, southwest Missouri they are chopping or getting ready to harvest corn into Oklahoma, double crop beans look terrible. Came back thru St. Louis up thru Springfield, Bloomington to Rockford, corn has run out of gas, yellow green look like middle September, beans look great. Keep in mind this was 80 mph windshield look”
Flash Sales: The USDA announced yesterday the sale of 244,000 mts of new crop soybeans to China.
U.S. crude inventories rose by 17.4 million barrels to 424.4 million barrels in the week ended August 7, the most since January 2023 and compared with market expectations for a 1.4 million-barrel draw. Gasoline stocks fell about a million barrels, close to expectations. Distillate stockpiles, which include diesel and heating oil, were little changed, versus expectations for a 1.3 million-barrel fall.
According to AAA, the national average for regular gasoline is $4.03 per gallon today, down 5¢ from a week ago. The national average for diesel is $5.35 per gallon, down 1¢ from a week ago.
