U.S. harvest of soybeans was estimated 96% complete by a Reuters poll (last week 91%) and corn 92% complete (last week 83%). Winter wheat planting was about 95% complete, up from 91% last week, and 52% of the winter wheat crop was rated good to excellent, unchanged from last week.
U.S. imports of containerized goods declined 7.5% year-over-year in October, with shipments from China dropping 16.3% as importers tempered expectations amid evolving tariff policies.
China’s agriculture ministry trimmed its 2024/25 corn import forecast from 3 million mts to 1.83 million, 2025/26 imports stayed at 6 million, while lifting the 2025/26 corn output estimate by 1.3% to 300 million mts, the highest level since records began in 1949.
2024/25 soybean imports were estimated at 109.37 million mts, up by 5 million, 2025/26 imports had no change at 95.8 million, and 2025/26 production was cut a bit to 20.9 million mts. So, we can expect them to raise imports during the year.
