Biofuel: The U.S. House has passed the year-around E15 legislation. Now to the Senate, where it needs 60% of votes, and get a signature from President Donald Trump to be enacted. However, opinions are divided. Some experts believe that increased domestic corn consumption will help farmers who produce corn, while others believe the bill will increase fuel costs, further increasing expenses and pressure soybean producers.
The U.S. PPI, producer prices index, soared 1.4% month-over-month in April 2026, the biggest increase since March 2022, following an upwardly revised 0.7% gain in March and well above forecasts of 0.5%. Year-on-year, producer prices jumped 6%, the biggest increase since December 2022, following an upwardly revised 4.3% rise in the previous month and above forecasts of 4.9%.
U.S. crude inventories fell by 4.3 million barrels to 452.9 million barrels in the week ended May 8, compared with expectations for a 2.1 million barrel draw. Refinery activity increased. Gasoline inventories dropped by 4 million barrels, exceeding forecasts. Distillate stocks were almost the same. Net U.S. crude imports fell by 318,000 barrels per day over the week.
