Farm Aid: U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said the Trump administration will unveil a “bridge payment” for farmers next week to provide short-term relief while longer trade and aid packages are finalized, amid pressure from farm groups and Republican lawmakers. The administration faces calls for more immediate funds for the next planting season, while expanding some farm supports in the latest spending bill. Overall, the U.S. government is expected to spend over $40 billion on farm payments in 2025, the second-highest total since 1933. We are not sure if that comparison is inflation-adjusted.
Exports: At least six bulk cargo vessels are scheduled to load with soybeans at Gulf Coast terminals through mid-December, according to a shipping schedule seen by Reuters yesterday. One U.S. soybean cargo was loaded over the past weekend and is already en route to China, the first such shipment since May.
U.S. sorghum shipments to China have also restarted for the first time since March. One vessel is currently loading at a Texas Gulf Coast terminal, and a second ship is due to load late next week at a terminal in the Pacific Northwest (PNW), shipping data showed.
Russia: A meeting between U.S. and Russian delegations on resolving the war in Ukraine took place in Moscow. No details were released following the meeting, so it is unlikely that we will see a war end anytime soon.
