Those of you who must deliver corn and beans this fall, if you have not already assessed production in your area versus normal production compared to the fall delivery basis being offered now, get with it. Normally, fall delivery basis needs to be set very late July or the first week of August.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq stock indexes closed at record highs yesterday, as optimism over strong corporate earnings outweighed ongoing trade tensions.
It is very discouraging that the nearby wheat futures contracts were all down 3 to 9¢ yesterday despite the dollar index losing more than 0.6% yesterday, the unexpected decline in spring wheat crop conditions, and wheat export inspections for shipment was a “home run.” Some analysts attribute the fall in wheat futures to the fact that top exporter Russia began to ship grain from its new crop, underscoring expectations of plentiful supply in the months ahead.
