Tidbits

Today at 11 AM Central, the USDA will release its Actual Planted acres and Quarterly Grain Stocks Reports.

The USDA reported total corn disappearance from 1 December 2025 to 1 March 2026 was 4.258 billion bushels, up 350 million bushels from a year ago. Winter demand is always more than warmer weather demand.

The market expects corn disappearance from 1 March to 1 June 2026 to be 3.632 billion bushels, up 128 million bushels from a year ago. Export inspections for the quarter through last Thursday were 29.4 million bushels more than a year ago. That means feed use and ethanol crush need to be about 98 million bushels more than a year ago to meet the market’s projected inventory as of 1 June. That may be asking too much.

On 29 June 2010, December corn made its low for the year at $3.43. The U.S. carryout was a 43 day supply (44 days this year) and the world carryout was a 65 day supply (78 days this year). The high for 2010 December corn was on 9 November at $6.05. On the 2010 November S&D, the U.S corn carryout was a 22 day supply and the world was a 56 day supply.
