The U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is really a blockade of Iranian ports, not the strait. No ships are allowed to enter or leave an Iranian port, but the U.S. says the strait is open and Iran says the strait is closed. The reality is insurance companies are limiting shipping through the strait.

On Sunday, President Trump issued the following statement:

"Today, an Iranian-flagged cargo ship named TOUSKA, nearly 900 feet long and weighing almost as much as an aircraft carrier, tried to get past our Naval Blockade, and it did not go well for them. The U.S. Navy Guided Missile Destroyer USS SPRUANCE intercepted the TOUSKA in the Gulf of Oman and gave them fair warning to stop. The Iranian crew refused to listen, so our Navy ship stopped them right in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engine room. Right now, U.S. Marines have custody of the vessel. The TOUSKA is under U.S. Treasury Sanctions because of their prior history of illegal activity. We have full custody of the ship and are seeing what is on board! President DONALD J. TRUMP"

On Sunday, President Donald Trump said U.S. negotiators will arrive in Pakistan on Monday evening in preparation for round two of talks with Iran. Iran did not confirm the talks. Trump threatened to destroy energy and transport infrastructure in Iran if it doesn’t take the deal that Washington is offering.
