Logistics: Iowa has issued weight-limit exemptions for vehicles up to 90,000 pounds gross weight transporting corn, soybeans, hay, straw, silage, stover, fertilizer, manure, and distiller grains. The waiver is effective until October 10 and was granted to help mitigate traffic concerns during harvest time. A farmer association said the waiver will allow a 1,000-acre farmer to use 26 fewer truckloads during this harvest, which is significant during the high fuel prices.
Global production, trade and consumption of total grains (coarse grains and wheat) are forecast to decline in the 2026/27 marketing year compared to the previous year, according to the latest International Grains Council (IGC) Grain Market Report.
The IGC raised its production forecast from the previous month by 4 million mts, to 2.42 billion, but it would still be 3% below the record output of 2.49 million mts in 2025.
Projected wheat and corn production, trade and consumption totals were virtually unchanged month on month. Global wheat shipments are predicted to slip to 451 million from 467 million mts last year.
