Weekend Comments from AgrInvest Commodities in Brazil:

The fertilizer market ended the week with strong downward pressure on nitrogen fertilizers, especially after the results of the Indian tender and the expansion of urea export quotas by China. Urea fell to the US$410–415/t CFR Brazil range, approaching the year's lows and increasing expectations of a demand recovery if prices break the US$400/t level. Ammonium sulfate followed the downward trend, giving back much of its recent gains due to the greater availability of Chinese products and the loss of competitiveness compared to urea. Ammonium nitrate remained more stable, supported by restricted supply in the Brazilian market.

In the phosphate sector, the weakening trend consolidated. MAP fell to the US$850–855/t CFR Brazil range, accumulating significant losses since July and reflecting weaker demand for phosphorus. SSP remained under pressure, reaching new lows even in the face of reduced domestic production and high sulfur costs, while TSP showed greater relative stability. The main challenge for the market continues to be demand destruction, which limits the ability of prices to react even in a scenario of tighter supply and still high costs for the industry.
