With so many world leaders at the UN in New York this week, there are many news reports about plans to end the two wars. All that “peace by Christmas talk” is having a negative impact on the price of corn and especially wheat.
Louis Dreyfus Company has nearly completed the construction of its soybean processing plant in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. The facility will have oil blending and packaging capabilities and will distribute a variety of vegetable oils and food ingredients.
Construction began in early 2024. The facility will employ over 100 people and have an annual soy crushing capacity of 1.5 million mts (55 million bushels) and edible soybean oil production capacity of 320,000 mts. The facility expanded its hours this week to receive soybeans to 24/7 until further notice. Actual crushing is expected to begin in March. The plant is expected to draw beans from as far away as Indiana and Michigan. Some beans from PA were reportedly delivered last week.
