Tidbits

It is amazing how suddenly “everyone” trusts Communist China to do what they say they will do when it comes to business transactions. The South China Post reported early Thursday that China’s President Xi and President Trump will extend the trade war truce by as much as a year when they meet Beijing in early April.

March soybeans made a new high for the move yesterday, left a quarter cent gap on the chart, and settled higher than any day since the first day of December even though yesterday’s morning weekly export soybean sales were way below the low end of the range of expectations. Soybean crusher basis bids were mostly 5¢ weaker yesterday with Norfolk 10¢ weaker. River basis bids were mostly 1¢ firmer.

The ag futures markets will not trade after today’s close until Monday evening in observance of President’s Day. This is a Friday. March beans have gained 76¢ the past two weeks and 22¢ the first four days this week. It is time for some profit taking.
