Tidbits
Canada's wheat exports for this marketing year to date reached a record 11.25 million mts, up 1.19 million mts from last year’s record pace.
Soybeans: Friday’s Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s (CFTC) Commitment of Traders (COT) Report, which is issued every Friday, and we report the numbers on Sundays as part of our Weekly Basis, showed the big spec funds were net buyers of 94,316 of soybean contracts for the week ending last Tuesday.
Peak Trading Research reported that the 94,316 contracts are the second largest week of net buying of bean contracts by the big specs (aka managed money) in the history of the CBOT.
During those five trading days (3 to 10 Feb), March soybean futures were up 56¾¢ and November beans were up 27¼¢. Since last Tuesday, March beans gained 10½¢ and November beans gained 7¢. Weekly export sales on Thursday, which we also reported on Friday morning, were the lowest for the marketing year which began 1 September.
