Definition of “B3” is short for the São Paulo Stock, Commodities and Futures Exchange known as B3 South America - Brasil, Bolsa, Balcão.
Corn futures on the B3 were sharply higher yesterday as a heatwave is expected to cover all of Brazil, Paraguay, and Northern Argentina from yesterday through the weekend. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach or exceed 104°F (40°C) as they did yesterday. Brazil’s second corn (safrinha) crop is at risk that the El Niño Episode may bring an early end to the rainy season rainfall with high temperatures for April and May, the critical phase for safrinha corn. Good rains this past weekend in Argentina favored the Core and Northwest regions of the country.
