Tidbits

Ukraine’s President Zelensky's powerful chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, who has headed Ukraine's peace negotiation team, quit yesterday, hours after anti-corruption agents raided and searched his home. A wide-spread probe into high-level corruption has sparked public outrage and thrust its leadership into crisis as Trump increases the pressure on Zelensky to reach a settlement.

Crude oil: Two Russian shadow fleet tankers were struck, and likely destroyed, north of the Bosporus Strait while traveling to the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk very late yesterday, according to Turkey's Directorate General of Maritime Affairs. It is believed they were empty. Both ships, the Kairos and Virat, reported the fires were caused by “an external impact.” All crew members were reported to be safe. No further details were provided.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported yesterday that U.S. crude oil demand in September was a new record high for any September at 20.891 mil barrels per day. That was up 535,000 barrels per day (2.6%) from a year ago. Also yesterday, EIA revised its August crude oil demand higher by 311,000 barrels per day to 21.195 million barrels per day.
