Ukraine: On Sunday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio led the talks in Geneva with a high-level Ukrainian delegation after Ukraine and its European allies rejected the U.S. peace plan because of the major concessions to Russia.
Rubio said significant progress was made on crafting a plan to end the war in Ukraine during the talks, but no agreement was reached on how to guarantee Kyiv's security amid concerns about the threat posed by Russia.
European officials joined the delegation late Sunday to present a modified version of the U.S. plan. It increases the limits on Ukraine’s military and negates territorial concessions to Russia, which Russia is highly unlikely to accept after nearly 4 years of war.
How will the U.S., Europe, and Ukraine develop a peace plan that Russia will accept without Russia sitting at the table? Ukraine rejected Trump’s peace plan which was negotiated between the U.S. and Russia with no input from Ukraine. Is anyone surprised?
