Mid-day Saturday, President Trump issued this statement:

Don’t worry about China, it will all be fine! Highly respected President Xi just had a bad moment… The USA wants to help China, not hurt it.

 

Later Trump posted: China’s President Xi “just had a bad moment.”   

 

China has softened their stance on their Friday announcement about rare earth mineral export controls. On Sunday morning, China issued this press release specifically about rare earth minerals:

  1. The recent change is NOT a full export ban.

  2. Applications that “meet regulations” will be approved.

  3. Willing to engage in deeper dialogue.

  4. Looks for global industrial and supply chain stability.

  5. Relevant impact of export controls is "very limited."

  6. This is a "necessary defensive action."

 

Reuters News reported Sunday afternoon that China called U.S. President Donald Trump's latest tariffs on Chinese goods hypocritical and defended its curbs on exports of rare earth elements and equipment but stopped short of imposing new levies on U.S. products.
