Tidbits, Marketing Plan Alternatives, FOB 4/21/25

"There is just as much additional profit to be made with better marketing as there is with more yield."

-Clifford Baughman, 1964; the first vocational agriculture to teach high school students grain marketing.

The highest price for 2025 corn, wheat, and soybeans futures will most likely be made in the next two months. Making any pricing decision is difficult.

Our job is to provide the most important fundamental, technical, and seasonal information for you to make the best marketing decision for your operation. Yes, we will tell you when we think you should be pricing your production, but, unless you have our full service, our email recommendations are generic based upon the market outlook and not your risk-bearing ability, cash flow needs, available marketing tools, etc.

We think that the preferred decision is to sell your crop production as close to the high as reasonably possible. Usually that top of the market opportunity occurs before your crop is made and we follow that marketing plan as our recommendation. However, we acknowledge that even though it may be effective, it doesn't suit everybody for different reasons. For some of you it is more comfortable to split the sales. Therefore, we decided to add two additional marketing plans this year.
