Weekly Basis 4/26/26

The Dow Jones Index settled on Friday at 49,231, -217 points for the week.

Crude oil settled at $94.88, +9.31.

Dollar Index settled at 98.51, +0.28.

Baltic Dry Index (a shipping freight-cost index) settled at 2,665, +98.



Corn


May futures settled at $4.55, +6¼¢ for the week.

December corn settled at $4.84¼, +7¼¢ for the week.


Basis (K = May; e.g. 10K means 10¢ over May futures) (Futures price + Basis = Cash price)

  • The US national average basis was -35K, 2¢ firmer.

  • Dayton, Ohio Cargill’s spot basis was 30K, 15¢ firmer, $4.85 cash price.

  • Iowa Falls Poet’s spot basis was -20K, steady, $4.35 cash price.
