Tidbits
Since the CFTC did not release its Commitment of Traders Report (changes in open interest) on the 4th of July, our Weekly Basis Report will be issued Tuesday morning after the COT is released Monday afternoon after the market closes.
The weather forecast and trade negotiations can change dramatically in less than an hour, but it appears the CBOT will have a good mix of bullish and bearish news when it opens this evening. Soybeans would appear to be the upside leader unless the weather forecast turns hot and dry by this evening. That would make corn the upside leader. The market is certainly disappointed Trump did not announce trade deals Thursday evening at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
This coming Wednesday is the day Trump set as the day tariff rates will sharply increase for those countries who have not made a trade deal. The monthly USDA S&D will be released Friday.
