Tidbits


Corn and wheat turned lower after midnight yesterday for no apparent reason and worked lower all through the night and day into the close. Around noon we learned there were "peacemakers" trying to get Trump, Putin and Xi (yes, the Chinese president) together to discuss a deal to open the Black Sea for grain exports. No date, no comments from big players, etc.


The Black Sea: 

Once again, somebody asked President Putin, “If there was a chance for a peace deal,” and he said, "Yes." Putin’s condition for peace talks has always been for Ukraine to release its claim on Russian occupied Ukrainian land. Ukraine refuses. None-the-less, when Putin answers the peace question with a “yes,” wheat prices fall out of bed.


Later yesterday, it was reported that Russia is not observing "any particular activity" from the United States regarding the Ukrainian settlement, stated Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
