It's our weekly U.S. grain market analysis and outlook for corn, soybeans and wheat, including traders positioning, basis bids tracking, crush margins, weekly news wrap-up and comments.
The Dow Jones Index settled on Friday at 54,037, +1,552 points for the week.
Crude oil settled at $77.08, -9.72.
Dollar Index settled at 99.6, -0.20.
Baltic Dry Index (a shipping freight-cost index) settled at 3,089, +357.
Corn
September futures settled at $4.39, -1¾¢ for the week.
December corn settled at $4.62, -2¢ for the week.
Basis (U = Sept, Z = Dec; e.g. 10U means 10¢ over Sept futures) (Futures price + Basis = Cash price)
The US national average basis was -27U, 2¢ firmer.
Dayton, Ohio Cargill’s spot basis was 30U, 10¢ firmer, $4.69 cash price. New crop was -20Z, steady.
Iowa Falls Poet’s spot basis was -20U, steady, $4.19 cash price. New crop was -35Z, steady.
