The Dow Jones Index settled on Friday at 53,560, +283 points for the week.

Crude oil settled at $83.44, -3.20.

Dollar Index settled at 99.68, +0.84.

Baltic Dry Index (a shipping freight-cost index) settled at 3,186, +345.



Corn


December futures settled at $5.36½, +27¾¢ for the week.


Basis (Z = Dec; e.g. 10Z means 10¢ over Dec futures) (Futures price + Basis = Cash price)

  • The US national average basis was -49Z, 2¢ firmer.

  • Dayton, Ohio Cargill’s spot basis was 11Z, 1¢ firmer, $5.47 cash price. New crop was -20, steady.

  • Iowa Falls Poet’s spot basis was -35Z, 5¢ firmer, $5.01 cash price. New crop was -35, steady.
