Ukraine’s Ag Minister says alternate shipping routes remain operational and Ukraine can still export 3.5 million mts of grain per month without deep-sea ports. That announcement kicked wheat lower and technical selling got carried away yesterday.
The Spring Wheat Tour final yield estimate is 48 bushels per acre vs 49 bpa last year and a 45.8 bpa 5-year average. Only 218 fields were surveyed, the lowest since 2011.
Livestock & Meat: In its semi-annual cattle inventory report, USDA estimated all cattle and calves in the U.S. herd totaled 94.2 million. That figure is up a marginal 200,000 head from the record low notched last July, and marks the first year-over-year increase in July since 2017-18. The number of cows as a total was unchanged at 38.1 million head.
Cattle on Feed was reported yesterday (percent of a year ago):
On Feed category as of 1 July was 102%, with 102.2% expected
Placements on Feed during June: 97%, with 98.8% expected;
Fed Cattle Marketings during June: 97.3%, with 97% expected.
Quarterly Hogs & Pigs report had June 1 inventory at 73,664,000 head, matching a year ago.
